Great! Let’s proceed to register your domain name with one of the domain registrars. There’s a lot of registrars out there from small local companies to the top registrars. What we are looking for when selecting the perfect registrar for you are :

Support – First thing’s first, don’t always go for the cheapest registrar. Although the prices they advertise could be cheap but there could also be hidden charges behind that low price. Always choose the registrar based on their after sales support as this is a very important aspect. Imagine you have your domain name but you are stuck with a certain step when trying to point your domain name at your web hosting server (this is a later step) and the support department takes too long to give you a satisfactory reply, well then this is where good support comes in. It could certainly save you a lot of time and effort if the support department is good and efficient, trust me.

Features – Now , most registrar companies offer some free features that come with every domain registration but there are a select few that goes beyond the usual and offer even better features , like a private WHOIS protection. Remember you could use WHOIS to find out the domain owner’s information? Well registrars do offer private WHOIS protection where your registration information is hidden from the world. They usually charge a fee for this but there’s a couple registrars that give you for free. Other features that most offer for free include domain locking , nameserver registration etc.

Price – Finally, the price factor comes in last as you should only take into consideration of this if your mind is really tied down by a hard choice. Remember the most expensive registrar might not be the best and the cheapest registrar might not be the worst.

Namecheap.com – Best value for money and top notch support registrar. Every domain registered with Namecheap comes with FREE private WHOIS protection and i mean EVERY single new doman, free for the first year. I am impressed with their live support system as well, you can’t go wrong with Namecheap.

Dynadot – Like Namecheap , they offer free private WHOIS as well. Support wise they are commendable and if you ever want to try out a new registrar when you got tired of your usual ones, do give Dynadot a thought.
